With the addition of the newly completed section, the Falls Trail is truly a loop that can be hiked either way, beginning with the new section starting behind the apple trees, just 150 feet beyond the playground at the Buckeye Recreation Center.
This section was constructed by a professional trail building team with the hiking staff, completing many of the details needed to make it safe and easier for everyone to travel.
Starting with rock steps and ascending downward, then meandering back and forth toward Buckeye Creek and the Falls. This moderate trail runs through the forest. Reaching the creek, you find yourself on a section of the Whiting Lumber Company's railroad grade.
Along this section you will see Grassy Gap Creek as it flows toward it's confluence with Buckeye Creek. Crossing the bridge, then up the grade to Buckeye Lake below the the dam. Following the trail (be sure to observe the signs) you will hike behind the water treatment plant then just under the Rec Center and back to your starting point.
The reverse route of this hike will hve you following down the steepest section of the trail adjacent to the dam with the rest being a moderate climb once you cross the creek and back up to the playground and apple trees.
Soon a crossover trail will be constructed from just below the water plant across to the new trail section connecting back to the trail entry recently constructed.
.

Park in area just outside the Water Plant gate, not inside. DO NOT BLOCK ENTRANCE. You may now access from the walking path around Buckeye Park. You can also park at the Buckeye Rec Center lot and enter the trail behind the apple trees.
